World Diabetes Day 2020
The World Diabetes day is commemorated on 14th November of every year. At Health Compass Initiative, we ensure that every year we reach out to our community where we celebrate this day. Diabetes being one of the major Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) is a very important topic to us and ensuring that the community we serve get enlightened about Diabetes is vital to meeting our goals.
This year, we commemorated the World Diabetes Day in grand fashion. 10 different churches under the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) province 10 were visited. Visits to these churches took place simultaneously on 15th and 22nd November and congregants were educated about prevention of Diabetes, promotion of healthy lifestyles as a preventive approach and the benefits of regular blood sugar testing.
Also, members of Health Compass Initiative took time out at these 10 different locations to properly enlighten our audience about signs and symptoms of Diabetes and the need to seek proper medical care if symptoms are noticed. As part of our efforts to encourage routine blood sugar testing, we were able to carry out free random blood sugar tests for 500 people across the churches visited.
