Rural Medical Outreach 2022 – Obot Obom Community

At Health Compass Initiative, respectful partnerships have become critical tools which have enabled us achieve our goals. On the 13th of September, 2022, the Health Compass Initiative in partnership with the Uduak Charles Diaries led a team of passionate volunteers for a medical outreach at the Obot Obom Community, a rural community in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The team offered free medical services including community health education and sensitization about prevention and control of common illnesses, free screening services and treatment of common illnesses.

As part of our efforts to reduce the burden of Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs), we undertook screening for diabetes and performed blood pressure checks. We also carried out extensive community health education and counseling services targeted at diabetes and hypertension were offered to members of the community. Through the unwavering commitment and dedication of our members, the Health Compass Initiative charged with the vision of bringing the hospital to the community will continue to push boundaries in healthcare service delivery and ensure that healthcare is accessible and affordable  especially within underserved communities.
